RELAXATION OF UNIFORM MAGNETIZATION PRECESSION IN LA2CUO4 ABOVE TN

The electron-paramagnetic-resonance (EPR) linewidth (GAMMA perpendicular-to) of La2CuO4 above T(N) is determined. It is shown that GAMMA perpendicular-to caused by the Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction depends on temperature as zeta/a, whereas GAMMA perpendicular-to produced by symmetric anisotropic forces changes as (zeta/a)3, where zeta is the two-dimensional spin-correlation length and a is the lattice constant. Measurable values of GAMMA perpendicular-to are found for stoichiometric La2CuO4. The total absence of EPR signal in nonstoichiometric crystals is attributed to holes' influence on dielectric properties and spin system of these antiferromagnets.
