DIFFERENCES IN GROWTH AND IRON OXIDATION AMONG THIOBACILLUS-FERROOXIDANS CULTURES IN THE PRESENCE OF SOME TOXIC METALS

摘要
Effects of silver, mercury, cobalt and copper on the growth of, and iron oxidation by, four T. ferrooxidans isolates were investigated. The isolates showed different patterns of resistance to the metals and growth was more affected than the iron oxidation activity.
