AGGREGATION OF NEEDLE-LIKE MACRO-CLUSTERS IN THIN-LAYERS OF MAGNETIC FLUID

摘要
The time evolution of the field induced formation of magnetic particles into needle-like macro-clusters, including the full areal density and the average length of macro-clusters as well as macro-cluster length distribution as functions of the time in a magnetic field thin layer, is investigated using an optical microscope. The results for both instantaneously and slowly applied magnetic fields are discussed with the cluster-cluster aggregation model and with the dynamic scaling form for aggregation.
