A survey of the vaginal cavity of 170 pregnant women was undertaken to ascertain the presence of Candida in the genital organs of these patients. Most of them had vaginitis and/or cervicitis. Cultures were made from samples swabbed from the vaginal wall and the cervix. The genus Candida was isolated from 46.5 % of the patients;C. albicans, 37.1 %;C. krusei, 3.5 %;C. parapsilosis, 2.9 %;C. tropicalis, 1.8 %; and C. guilliermondii, 1.2 %. © 1969 Dr. W. Junk N. V.
