The new methylene bridged compound [(mu-CH3Te)Fe2(CO)6]2[mu-Te(CH2)Te-mu] has been prepared from the reaction at room temperature of Fe3(CO)9(mu-3-Te)2 and excess diazomethane. The compound was subjected to X-ray structural analysis. The crystals were monoclinic, space group C2/c, a = 28.865(10), b = 13.787(7), c = 14.733(4) A, beta = 104.67(2)-degrees, U = 5672 A3, Z = 8, D(c) = 2.637 g cm-3. The structure consists of two '(CO)6Fe2Te(CH3)Te' units connected by a CH2 group.
