摘要
A new multistage Hough transform approach to the problem of ellipse detection in images is presented. The proposed approach is based on the polar and pole definition of conics and its advantage lies in avoiding the propagation of parameter estimation error over the successive stages of the Hough transform. The proposed method is capable of detecting partially visible ellipses, overlapping ellipses, and groups of concentric ellipses. A set of experimental results is presented to demonstrate these capabilities of the suggested approach.
