ULTRAVIOLET SPECTROPHOTOMETRIC STUDY OF DETERMINATION OF CADMIUM COBALT BISMUTH AND MOLYBDENUM BY PYRROLIDINEDITHIOCARBAMATE METHOD

摘要
Ammonium pyrrolidinedithiocarbamate has been investigated as a reagent for the spectrophotometric determination of certain metals. Pyrrolidinedithio-carbamic acid forms metal chelates which are soluble in chloroform, methylisobutyl ketone, and other organic solvents. The extracted pyrrolidinedithio-carbamates of cadmium, cobalt, bismuth, and molybdenum have absorbance maxima in the ultraviolet region. The main advantage of pyrrolidinedithiocarbamate is that it can be used in acidic solutions. Procedures have been developed for the ultraviolet spectrophotometric determination of these elements. The molar absorptivities range from 3.50 × 104 l/mole-cm for the cadmium chelate to 8.5 × 103 for the molybdenum system. © 1968, American Chemical Society. All rights reserved.
