PINEAL INVOLVEMENT IN THE CONTROL OF CIRCADIAN RHYTHMICITY IN THE LAKE CHUB, COUESIUS-PLUMBEUS

摘要
Removal of the pineal organ from the lake chub, Couesius plumbeus, had significant effects on circadian locomotor activity. In fish kept in continuous darkness the absolute length of the circadian period was significantly altered; the variability of the period was increased; and ultradian rhythms were eliminated. These findings indicate that the pineal organ is involved in the control of circadian rhythmicity in this teleost fish. Copyright © 1979 Wiley‐Liss, Inc., A Wiley Company
