摘要
The kinetics of the reaction between carbon dioxide and triethylamine (TREA) in aqueous solutions was determined from gas adsorption experiments in a wetted sphere absorber. There is disagreement in the literature on the presence of a base catalysis effect, commonly observed for the reaction of tertiary amines, for this highly basic tertiary amine. The solubility and diffusivity of carbon dioxide in aqueous TREA solutions which are needed to interpret the kinetics experiments were determined using the nitrous oxide analogy method. The data obtained in this work support a base catalysis mechanism characterized by second order overall kinetics, first order with respect to both CO2 and free amine concentrations. The rate constant for this reaction, obtained over a temperature range of 293-313 K, is correlated by k2 = 2.661 × 1011 exp(-6573/T). © 1990.
