VANADATE AND DICYCLOHEXYLCARBODIIMIDE INHIBIT THE BLUE LIGHT-INDUCED DEPOLARIZATION OF THE MEMBRANE IN PULVINAR MOTOR CELLS OF PHASEOLUS

摘要
Transient depolarization of cell membranes precedes induction by a pulse of blue light (BL) of pulvinar movement in Phaseolus vulgaris. The depolarization may involve the plasma membrane H+-ATPase since vanadate and dicyclohexylcarbodiimide decreased or almost completely inhibited depolarization. BL may inactivate the enzyme, thereby decreasing the turgor pressure in motor cells.
