摘要
The effects of crystal breakage on particle-size distribution in a continuous mixed suspension crystallizer were studied from computer solutions of the population balance equation using assumed generalized forms for a breakage model. The assumed breakage model was size-dependent and scaled to the amount of product withdrawal at the dominant particle size. Particle breakage narrows particle-size distribution. The amount of narrowing, represented by the coefficient of variation of the distribution, was correlated in terms of empirical parameters in the breakage model. © 1969, American Chemical Society.
