The advantages and disadvantages of the electrochemical-or more exactly-electrolytic method for measuring mass-transfer coefficients are summarized. The most outstanding advantages are: high accuracy and high resolution in respect to time and location. Measurements for the mass transfer between a falling film and the wall with astonishing results are one example for its application to problems of chemical engineering. © 1979.
