MULTIPLE FORWARD PHASE CONJUGATE WAVES BY DEGENERATE 4-WAVE-MIXING IN LANGMUIR-BLODGETT-FILMS WITH BOXCARS GEOMETRY

摘要
We report an unusual phenomenon in cyanine arachidic acid (Cy-AA) complex Langmuir-Blodgett films to generate multiple forward phase conjugate waves (FPCWs) by means of degenerate four-wave-mixing with BOXCARS geometry. It is considered that the FPCWs are induced by third- and higher-order (5th-order) nonlinear effects of the films. The maximum conversion efficiency of the phase matching FPCW is found to be about 18% in the LB film containing 120 Cy-AA monolayers. It indicates that the film possesses a very large nonlinearity. This way of generating FPCWs is a simple method to investigate the nonlinearity of ultra-thin films.
