摘要
The rate of the reactive quenching of metastable Hg(6 3P0) atoms by molecular chlorine was determined by phase-sensitive modulation spectroscopy to be (1.0 ± 0.2) × 10-10 cm3 molecule-1 s-1, corresponding to a quenching cross section of 28 Å2. Mechanistic studies showed that HgCl in the (B2Σ+ 1 2) state is one of the products of this reaction, being formed in 0.9 ± 0.3% of the reactive collisions. © 1979.
