摘要：

Near-surface temperature and in vivo chlorophyll observations were made continuously on 34 lines of 90-km length in the North Sea during April and May 1976. Spectral analysis of these data permit comparisons of the ratio of slopes of these spectra with theories of the relation between phytoplankton growth and physical mixing processes. It is possible to separate periods when the phytoplankton growth is affected mainly by physical dispersion from periods when grazing is the controlling factor. © 1979.
