摘要
Four measures of inspection performance based on Shannon's measure of information are introduced: mutual information, fraction of uncertainty removed, channel capacity, and operating ratio. The measures are applicable in cases when quantitative estimates of the consequences of inspection error are not available. Several examples of the application of these measures to various inspection evaluation, selection and sequencing problems are provided.
