In this paper asymptotic methods are employed to solve for the vector fields and propagation constants of modes propagating axially in a circular-cylindrical guiding system in which the dielectric constant decreases gradually and monotonically, but otherwise arbitrarily, from a maximum at the axis. © 1969 IEEE.
