Ag-clad (TI, V)(Sr, Ba)(2)Ca2Cu3Oy tapes were fabricated by a powder-in-tube process. The tapes exhibited no discernible favourable texture. Critical current density (J(c)) values at 77 K were < 2000 A cm(-2) and were strongly influenced by heat treatment temperature and time. Pressing before the final annealing reduced the tape thickness and increased the J(c).
