GLASS TRANSITION MEASUREMENTS ON POLYSTYRENE BY DIFFERENTIAL SCANNING CALORIMETRY

摘要
We have developed a method of measuring the glass transition temperature of a polystyrene sample using a Perkin-Elmer differential scanning calorimeter DSC-1. As the temperature of the sample rises through the glass transition we find a clear endotherm of about 0·92 cal/g polystyrene. This value agrees with other experimental evidence and is supported by theoretical consideration. The DSC-1 glass transition temperature is closely related to softening point measurement by the B.S.2782 cantilever test. © 1969.
