摘要
Attempts to model the separate phase transport of contaminants in the subsurface have been hindered by a scarcity of constitutive data, especially for the three-fluid case. In earlier work14-16, the authors have developed and tested laboratory techniques, including dualgamma attenuation and differentially wetted tensiometers, to measure relative saturations and capillary pressures in multifluid porous media. These techniques are used, in the research reported here, to test the validity of two-fluid approximations for three-fluid capillary pressure-saturation relations. These relations are measured and compared for two- and three-fluid cases in porous media consisting of unconsolidated quartz sand, air, tetrachloroethylene and water. Agreement between two- and three-fluid data is found to be good for the case of monotonic drainage. © 1990.
