摘要：

High-quality optical fiber polarizers based upon surface plasmon wave generation in a thin metal overlay have been reported recently. The letter presents experimental results using high birefringence fiber which indicate two forms of polarising action, dependent on the parameters of the device, allowing selection of the polarisation transmitted.
