The use of the peak-shift method for the evaluation of the Narayanaswamy parameter x is illustrated by reference to glasses in the system AgI-AgPO3-Ag2MoO4. The response of a chosen glass (containing 50 mol% AgI) to thermal cycling around the glass transition region was monitored by differential scanning calorimetry. The results of two independent sets of experiments, involving the dependence of the response on, respectively, the amount of annealing below T(g) and the heating rate, yield the same value of x = 0.68 +/- 0.02. This result is compared with those from a similar but more exhaustive study of silver iodo-molybdate glasses for which the value of x was shown to depend significantly on the silver iodide content.
