Magnetization measurements on single crystalline REPd//3 (RE equals Pr, Nd, Dy, Ho) intermetallic compounds in the temperature range 2 to 100 K and for magnetic fields up to 8 T are discussed. Also we present measurements of the molar heat capacity on polycrystalline REDd//3 (RE equals Pr, Nd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er Tm) compounds for different magnetic fields in the temperature range 1. 5 to 17 K. The experimental results are interpreted in terms of a cubic crystalline electric field using a simple molecular field approximation for the exchange interaction. A comparison of the reduced crystal field parameters for the REPd//3 compounds shows systematic behavior and supports the physical relevance of the applied Model.
