EFFECT OF TRIGGER-CIRCUIT CONDITIONS ON THE TIME CHARACTERISTICS OF A LIQUID TRIGATRON

A study was made of the effect of conditions in the trigger circuit on the statistical distribution of time-lags of the liquid trigatron. The influence of the trigger capacitance and triggering pulse amplitude on the distribution was examined. The results show that increase of the trigger capacitance had practically no influence on the formative time-lag. However, the trigger capacitance affected the distribution of time-lags; increase of the capacitance caused decrease in the statistical time-lags. The same conclusions were drawn with regard to the influence of the triggering pulse amplitude on the time-lag distribution. In addition, from observation it appears that the distribution of time-lags is dependent upon the available triggering energy, and not on the triggering pulse magnitude itself. The significance of the results obtained is discussed. © 1979.
