RESONANCE TUNNELING OF FIELD EMITTED ELECTRONSTHROUGH ADSORBATES ON METAL SURFACES

摘要
Tunneling resonance of field emitted electrons through the energy levels of single Zr atoms and χ-nitrogen adsorbed on a tungsten surface has been observed. The enhanced tunneling probability through the Zr atoms is related to the 'atomic band' of Zr which is shifted by ΔE ∼ 1.0-1.5 eV with a width Γ ∼ 1 eV. The resonance in χ-nitrogen demonstrates that this nitrogen complex is probable negatively ionized. © 1969.
