TRANSPLANTATION IMMUNOSUPPRESSION BY LOCAL INFUSION OF ALLOGRAFTS OF CANINE LUNG

The mean survival time (MST) of untreated canine pulmonary lobar allografts was 5.83 days. Treatment of a group of recipients with low dose chemotherapy gave an MST of 10.17 days. When chemical immunosuppressants were infused, in addition to the same oral regime, into the pulmonary artery of the graft, the MST was 31.50 days. The same infúsate, plus the oral regime, given into the aorta gave an MST of 8.75 days. These results indicate that the intrapulmonary infúsate exerts a localised suppression of allograft rejection. © 1969 by The Williams and Wilkins Co.
