Gastro-enteritis is the main clinical aspect of salmonellosis which are becoming more frequent. Extra-digestive manifestations, less frequent, affecting usually patients at risk, must be recognized. Different localizations of infection are possible. Some, especially cardio-vascular forms, can be severe and fatal. Diagnosis is based on microorganism isolation from the site of infection but also often from blood culture. Antibiotherapy, sometimes associated with a chirurgical procedure, is necessary. Better evaluation of the efficacy of newer antibiotics in such situations must be realised.
