摘要
The polymer structure and mechanism of formation of electroreductively polymerized 4-methyl-4′-vinyl-2,2′-bipyridine-containing metal complexes are described. Results from TLC and laser desorption Fourier transform mass spectrometry demonstrate that normal “polyvinyl-type” chains are formed through chain propagation. For electrochemically polymerized poly-Fe(vbpy)32+an average chain length of seven repeat monomer units is determined. Separate copolymerization studies of mono- and tris(vinyl)-substituted complexes provide additional information on the nature of the polymerization process. © 1990, American Chemical Society.
