摘要
Optimal control of chatter is implemented by using a bench type lathe where the chatter vibration is to be stabilized and the tracking error in following desired tool positions should be minimized. This approach is based on the state feedback control due to an LQI control mode and a state observer is used to estimate difficult to measure entire state variables. The designed optimal control law is examined in the experiments by regulating the position of the cutting tool with respect to the workpiece. Computer simulations are also carried out and the results are in good agreement with the experiments. Satisfactory vibration controls are obtained under the various cutting conditions.
