摘要
A number of new organic tetraradicals with quintet ground states have been prepared. Along with their intrinsic significance, these structures provide valuable tests of certain design principles for the construction of organic magnetic materials. The tetraradicals all follow the ''bis(TMM)'' approach, which promises to provide a wealth of information on spin preferences in organic structures. Efforts to prepare prototypes of the polaronic ferromagnet are also described. Current work is aimed at evaluating the role of bipolaron formation in such systems, in an effort to increase the absolute spin concentration.
