摘要
Alemow may cause dwarfing of old-line citrus trees when used as rootstock. However, during 18 years, nucellar trees budded on this rootstock were vigorous, with no signs of dwarfing or decline. Yields on this rootstock were outstanding, and exceeded the yields of all other rootstocks, with a cumulative yield 40% larger than the second best rootstock, which, under our conditions was sour orange (Citrus aurantium L.), proving that Alemow is not always a dwarfing rootstock. Alemow, rough lemon and volkameriana reduced the concentration of total soluble solids and acid in juice. However, unlike the observations with other cultivars, this led to an increase in the soluble-solids to acid ratio. Alemow is recommended as a rootstock for 'Minneola' and similar high-acid citrus cultivars, in situations where the threat of tristeza virus is slight.
