摘要
Metal ions are determined by adding N-methylfurohydroxamic acid to an aqueous sample and then separating the metal chelates by direct injection onto a liquid chromatographic column. Separations on a C//8 silica column and a poly-styrene-divinylbenzene column are compared, with better separations seen on the polymeric column. The complexes formed at low pH values are cationic and are separated by an ion pairing mechanism. Retention times and selectivity of the metal complexes can be varied by changing the pH.
