A formula proposed by the author [J. Crystal Growth 87 (1988) 3971 for the estimation of the minimum temperature theta at which good crystals may be grown from a gas phase has been critically re-examined and extended. The main theme of the present note is the introduction of pressure as a variable. It is shown that theta falls off very rapidly at low pressures and increases slowly and almost linearly as the pressure increases above about 0.5 atm. The effect of condensation coefficient is discussed and theta values for a selection of the original materials are tabulated for 5 different pressures.
