MORPHOLOGY OF SO-CALLED TRANSPLANT ADAPTATION

Studies to explain the question of transplantationadaptation gave following results: 1. In two kidney-transplants, which were transferred from male donnors to female recipients and removed after 90 days, post mortem and 94 days, through operation, respectively, it could be shown that the mesenchymal cells lying beneath the endothelium, exhibited sex-chromatin of 10,0 and 12,8% respectively. 2. Equivalents of sex-chromatin appear in subendothelial intima-beds in 1,4% cases when the transplant was made from male to male. 3. The nuclei of endothelium cells of kidney transplants retain the sex of the donnor for 35 and 90 days respectively. 4. The transplantation-adaptation cannot therefore be explained after Trentin (1966) (endothelialising of transplant by recipient). The subendothelial intimabeds consist, 90 and 94 days respectively after the transplantation, mainly of adapted bloodcells of the recipient. © 1969 Springer-Verlag.
