FOREIGN GAS QUENCHING OF SULFUR DIOXIDE VAPOR EMISSION

摘要
Quenching probabilities per gas kinetic collision for 15 common collision partners with electronically excited SO2 are presented and compared to those found independently for electronically excited I2, NO2, and OH. In each of the latter cases, and for excited singlet SO2, the quenching process is efficient, usually requiring from only one to ten collisions. The single parameter which best correlates most of the data is the polarizability of the quencher.
