A NEW VORTEX SCHEME FOR VISCOUS FLOWS

摘要
The purpose of this paper is to suggest a new way to discretize the viscous term of the Navier-Stokes equations, when they are approximated by a vortex method. The idea is to approximate the vorticity by convolving it with a cutoff function. We then explicitly differentiate the cutoff function to approximate the second-order spatial derivatives in the viscous term. We prove stability for the heat equation and give error estimates for the heat and the Navier-Stokes equations. © 1990.
