ZETA POTENTIAL AND SURFACE FREE-ENERGY CHANGES - QUARTZ-N-HEPTANE-WATER SYSTEM

摘要
To further verify the previously observed relationship between the zeta potential and the surface free energy changes (for sulfur/n-alkane-water and Teflon/n-alkane-water systems), the quartz/n-heptane-water system has been studied in this paper. The high purity (>99.99%) quartz samples were pretreated in different ways. The results obtained confirm again a possibility of the film pressure determination for hydrophobic (or hydrophobized) solids in water from the streaming potential measurements, and then, their surface dispersion free energy. © 1979.
