Pressure dependence of intersystem crossing in anthracene and two derivatives at 77 degrees K

摘要
Fluorescence lifetimes tau(f) of anthracene, 9,10-diphenylanthracene and 9-methylanthracene have been measured as a function of pressure to 30 kbar at 77 degrees K. An anomalous approximate to three-fold increase in tau(f), observed for anthracene at high pressures. is attributed to prohibition of S-1 hooked right arrow T-2 intersystem crossing as a result of relative energy level shifts under pressure.
