摘要
Marine algae from intertidal habitats, when shaken in iron ore dust suspensions in seawater, take up appreciable quantities of the dust load. The quantities taken up vary with the modes of thallus construction. Considerable quantities of ore dust are retained by the plants after shaking for periods of up to 15h in dust free seawater. Marine algae can be used as a monitoring system for ore dust loading of seawater due to accidental spillages in the v vicinity of ore unloading terminals. © 1978.
