摘要
Perforation and penetration of aluminum targets by conical-nosed steel projectiles is investigated. Specifically, numerical simulations of the experimental configurations in a series of laboratory tests are conducted. The transient dynamic finite element code PRONTO 2D is used to perform the numerical studies. Both the projectile and the target are modeled as elastic/plastic materials with isotropic hardening. Numerical results are obtained for various target geometries and impact velocities. Good correlations have been found when these results are compared to measured experimental data.
