摘要：
The past decade has witnessed major and unanticipated changes in the epidemiology and clinical manifestations of group A streptococcal infections. Numerous focal outbreaks of acute rheumatic fever occurred in communities throughout the USA in the mid- and late-1980s. There has also been an apparent increase in the occurrence of life-threatening invasive group A streptococcal infections in many areas of the world.
