摘要
The purpose of this paper was twofold. First, the family life cycle was conceptualized in terms of four interacting models of development. These models were based on Riegel's scheme of human development. Secondly, Riegel’s concept of “synchronizing reinterpretalion” and life cycle transition was explored in terms of second-order or paradoxical change. Second-order change is grounded in a dialectical theory of change. It was suggested how a dialectical approach to the family life cycle may enhance theoretical conceptions, research paradigms, and clinical interventions with families. © 1979 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
