摘要
Koschmieder's formula relating visibility to the extinction coefficient (Lυ = 3.9/b) has been verified by comparing simultaneous measurements of both variables at one site. These data suggest that the meteorological range, determined from a point measurement of the scattering coefficient with an integrating nephelometer, is approximately equal to the prevailing visibility determined by an observer looking at prominent dark objects. The quantitative relationship between visibility, total atmospheric scattering coefficient, and aerosol mass concentration is presented and compared with the classical theoretical relationship,. © 1969.
