A SPARK COUNTER DATA ACQUISITION SYSTEM USED WITH A MAGNETIC SPECTROGRAPH

摘要
A data acquisition system based on the use of a sonic spark counter at the focal position of a magnetic spectrograph is described. The output of the spark counter is fed into a computer which processes the events on-line, presents a cathode ray display for continuous monitoring during experiments, controls the recording of the reduced data on magnetic tape, and, by use of an incremental recorder, on paper, in graphical form. Separate spectra are obtained, automatically separated, for protons, deuterons, 3H, 3He and 4He. The resolution is better than 1 mm. Counting rates up to 100/sec have been used. The system has been employed successfully in a number of experiments over a period of about two years. © 1969.
