摘要
The numerical study of a low pressure nitrogen plasma jet is performed with a well documented experiment being used as a test-case. The shortcomings of different approaches used for the kinetic scheme, the thermal non-equilibrium and the transport properties are underscored. In particular, the strong influence of the charge exchange reaction (N2+N+ ⇌ N2+ + N) on the recombination of electrons is shown. The importance of an accurate description of the ambipolar diffusion emerges from this study in the case of strong electronic pressure gradients. © 1995 American Institute of Physics.
