MIXED RESIN BASE-CATALYZED DECOMPOSITION OF HYDROGEN-PEROXIDE

摘要
The catalytic decomposition of hydrogen peroxide was studied kinetically in the presence of the mixed resin Dowex MR-3 in the form of Na+/OH -, K+/OH- and Na+/CO3(2-). The rate-determining step was the same in both cases and the reaction was found to be first order. It has been found that the positive counter-ion, i.e., Na+ or K+, does not play any role in the reaction mechanism. The values of the activation parameters were elucidated and were found to be almost the same in all cases.
