SILICON-CARBIDE AND TRANSITION-METALS - A CRITICAL-EVALUATION OF EXISTING PHASE-DIAGRAM DATA SUPPLEMENTED BY NEW EXPERIMENTAL RESULTS

摘要
Phase equilibria for the ternary systems silicon-carbon-metal (metal = Ti through Ni, Zr through Pd and Hf through Pt) are compiled. Silicon carbide reacts with all these metals to form binary silicides and carbides as well as ternary phases in the systems with Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Zr, Nb, Mo, Hf and Ta. Thermochemical stabilities for most of these ternary phases are estimated from the observed phase equilibria and the binary stability data.
