摘要
Spectra of γ-rays from the radiative capture of 14.1 MeV neutrons by the nuclei 32S, 52Cr and 56Fe were calculated and compared with the experimental data. The calculation was performed according to three different formulations of the direct-semi-direct theory using neutron wave functions for the Woods-Saxon potential with spin-orbit coupling. The contribution to the γ-ray spectra from the capture via formation of the compound nucleus was also calculated. The results show that all three direct-semi-direct models give reasonably good agreement with experiment in the excitation energy region 0- ≈ 5 MeV. At higher excitation energies, the direct-semi-direct theory gives a much smaller cross section than the measured one. In this energy region, the capture via formation of the compound nucleus accounts for an appreciable part of the transition strength. © 1969.
