摘要
Measurements are reported of the high-field magnetoresistance and Hall effect of both single-crystal and polycrystalline indium. Although the magnetoresistance exhibited no pronounced crystal anisotropy, substantial deviations from Kohler's rule were observed. It is found that both the longitudinal and transverse magnetoresistance increase linearly in high-purity specimens but not in impure material. Other deviations from Kohler's rule are attributed to small-angle electron-phonon scattering. The Hall coefficient of indium was found to decrease slightly with increasing magnetic field. Measurements were made using dc techniques as well as the standing-wave helicon method; in addition, solutions of the helicon wave equation for a finite cylinder transverse to the magnetic field are considered. © 1969 The American Physical Society.
