摘要
The KLOE drift chamber is a cylinder of similar to 2 m radius and similar to 3.3 m long, providing an adequate path for K-L decays. The tracking volume is surrounded by a 15 X(o) em calorimeter and a superconducting coil providing a 0.6 T field. Spherical end walls hold the tension of similar to 50 000 wires, with good transparency, less than or equal to 0.1 X(o), to photons from pi(o) decays. Alternating stereo wires only, with constant radial displacement at the center, provide a uniform filling with approximately square cells. A He-iC(4)H(10) gas mixture and Al field wires are used to minimize multiple scattering. The chamber point resolution in r, phi is significantly better than 200 mu m resulting in a K-L --> pi(+) pi(-) vertex accuracy of sigma(x,y(z)) less than or equal to 0.5(1-2)mm. The K-o mass resolution is sigma(M) similar to 1 MeV/c(2).
